My Story

When my kids were little, I started paying attention to what was in the products we were using every day — and I haven't stopped since. I've spent more than 12 years researching ingredients and learning what to look for.

After my breast cancer diagnosis in 2018, I heard a lot about diet and exercise (which of course is important) but not much about environmental health. So I started learning more about how the chemicals in our everyday products and surroundings can add to our overall health risks over time and that changed everything for me.

The more I learned, the more I realized this wasn't something that only affected our family. Rates of certain cancers - especially breast and colorectal - have been rising in younger adults, and it's something more public voices have been speaking openly about lately, including Katie Couric in this piece.

Why This Matters

It shouldn't be on us - the consumer to research every ingredient and wonder whether the products we’re using in our homes are safe. But until regulations and laws catch up, that's exactly where we are.

I started Better Health With Sarah to help people reduce toxic exposures in their homes and everyday lives - without it being overwhelming. It's impossible to avoid every exposure, but there are real, manageable steps that make a meaningful difference.
